Junior Coach Program
The Junior Coach Program is designed to develop leadership skills and provide valuable mentorship opportunities for young individuals. This program offers participants the chance to become more actively involved with both participants and the broader community. To qualify, applicants must be at least 14 years of age, possess working papers, and be a current participant in the program. Key responsibilities include the ability to speak confidently in front of a group, lead by example, and serve as a positive role model for others. The program aims to cultivate personal growth while contributing to the development of others in a supportive and dynamic environment.
ACE Program
Ace guides teens to game plan what’s next with experiences that help them stand out on a resume or application, and helps them stand prepared for whatever path they choose next. Through a series of four hands-on projects, participants are guided to explore who they are and what paths could be possible, create goals and an action plan, and build real-world assets to kickstart their next step. Ace participants begin with many questions and uncertainties and leave with confidence, greater perspective and vision for their next step.
National Participant Opportunities
Thanks to our corporate partners and generous donors, First Tee is able to offer a variety of educational and leadership opportunities for participants and alumni each year. These events often become life-changing experiences for our teens as they further develop an awareness of the possibilities that surround them.
For more information about national participant opportunities, please visit this page on our website dedicated to these opportunities.
On Course Offerings
Hybrid Class (Ages 12+)
Our hybrid classes typically meet for 90 minutes once a week. These classes alternate weeks between the practice facilities and playing on the golf course. Participants will have the opportunity to apply the skills they practiced the previous week out on the course while playing with other participants and receiving feedback from their coach. These classes allow participants to engage with the 5 Key Commitments and apply their golf fundamentals in an authentic environment.
Skills Focused Class (Ages 12+) *NEW*
Our new skills focused class is a hybrid class offering that meets for 120 minutes once a week. These classes alternate weeks between the practice facilities and playing on the golf course. This class offering is intended for participants who are serious golfers and are focused on getting better, no matter their starting skill level. These classes will be led by First Tee coaches that have additional golf knowledge and experience on top of their First Tee training. This class will focus primarily on our Key Commitment of Goal Setting as it relates to golf and life. To ensure coaches are able to provide personalized feedback, these classes will have limited spots available.
Course Playing Class (Ages 14+) *NEW*
Our new course playing class meets for 120 minutes once a week. In this class, participants get out on the golf course to play every week the class is running. Participants will engage with the 5 Key Commitments each week in an authentic environment. This class is intended for experienced players who are looking to get out on the course consistently to apply their golf skills and improve their decision making and course management strategies. This class will feature limited golf skill feedback so it may not be suited to newer players still refining their golf fundamentals. To ensure coaches are able to provide appropriate supervision and strategy feedback, these classes will have limited spots available.
Teen Playing Nights (Ages 13+)
This new offering gives participants the opportunity to get out on the course and play with other teens. Participants can meet new people and choose to play casually or competitively during their round. Participants will play a full 9 holes while a coach bounces between groups to check on them. This experience is more hands off from a coaching perspective and should be viewed as a social practice opportunity rather than an instructional opportunity.
