PGA JR. LEAGUE

Overview

First Tee WNY is proud to host our own PGA Jr. League every year in May – June. This offering is great for golfers who are interested in competing in a fun, team environment and is a favorite of our coaches and participants! There is no skill level requirement for PGA Jr. League, but to be eligible a participant must be:

  • Age 9 or older by the end of the season
  • Able to walk and carry their clubs for 9 holes without assistance
  • An active First Tee WNY participant

Registration

Registration takes place on the PGA JR League website under Find Programs. 

Items to pay attention to when looking for our league:

  • The league name should be First Tee WNY
  • Ensure you are registering for the correct location as there is offerings in both Buffalo and Rochester
  • Ensure you are registering for the correct age group as we have 13u and 17u teams
  • When registering for the league, you are not registering for a specific course/team, just an age group and market
  • You will need an access code to register, so please reach out to our program team if you need one

After you have registered, First Tee WNY staff members will organize all participants into their teams based on various factors such as:

  • Participant address in relation to our partner golf courses
  • Number of participants on each team already registered
  • Known skill level to balance teams as well as we can

PLEASE NOTE: We do our best to prioritize team placement based on participant addresses. There are often times when some participants live close to one course and very far from the others. These participants are given first priority when we organize teams. If you live similar distances from multiple locations, we will place your child on the team that makes the most sense based on the number of participants we already have on each team.

Format

PLEASE NOTE: Although it is possible to do three person groupings with the match format above, we prefer not to have participants substitute in and out within the round as it takes away playing time. Instead, if we have an odd number of participants, we will have one participant hit 2 shots at a time, simulating having a partner. With this being said, we organize our teams into even numbers to minimize this possibility. We kindly ask that you evaluate how many matches you know your child will need to miss before signing up so we can avoid odd numbers as much as possible.

How do I know what age level to sign up for?

  • 13U – Ages 9-13 (on or before June 28)

What do I get for my $260 registration fee?

  • $110 for PGA JR League Kit (home & away jersey, hat)
  • $150 for coaching costs
    • 5 practices including 2 on the course
    • 5 matches at home & away courses
  • Championship match with banquet
